The steering of tracked vehicles is achieved by adjusting the track.

There are two ways:

1) German reverse transmission The driving wheels on both sides rotate in opposite directions, and the tracked vehicle rotates around the center point.

1. It can be turned in place around a center

2. Less wear on the track

3. High comfort for members Complex mechanical design

This method is rarely used now.

2) The current mainstream method of adjusting the direction in the country:

One track is locked and the other turns Advantages: simple design and low mechanical complexity.

Disadvantages: Cannot turn in place, can only turn around the locked track center. In practice, the track is usually not locked, but the speed of the two tracks is adjusted to turn: the inner track is slow and the outer track turns very fast. The turning radius is slightly larger than the locking radius on one side of the track. The speed difference between the two tracks allows the vehicle to turn. If one track turns forward and the other track turns backward, the vehicle can even turn in place.
